Current Event 3

Hurricane Igor- September 19, 2010

Hurricane Igor is supposed to hit the island of Bermuda late on Sunday or early Monday morning.  The locals on the island are hoping that the hurricane weakens before its the island.  At the moment there prayers have been answered because it has gone down to a category 1 hurricane.  The airports have been closed and schools have already been closed for Monday and Tuesday.  Many hotels and other tourist locations have had many cancellations due to the hurricane.  Many stores a have completely sold out of generators, bottled water, tarps, rope, screws and nails.  They say anything that people can use to protect there homes and them selves from the hurricane they have bought.  Forecasters are protecting 6-9 inches of rain before the hurricane even hits.

Critical Thinking Question: What would you buy to protect your home if you knew a hurricane was coming?
